Fried Frank adds to private equity group

Monday, July 29, 2024
Opalesque Industry Update - Fried Frank announced today that Amy Johnson has joined the firm as a partner in the Private Equity Funds Group and the Asset Management Practice in New York. She joins from Goodwin, where she was a partner in the private equity group and a member of the private investment funds practice.

Amy has experience advising major sponsors on all aspects of the formation, operation and ongoing maintenance of private investment funds, including private equity funds, venture capital funds, real estate funds, co-investments, fund-of-funds and secondaries in the United States, Europe and Latin America. She advises clients on their formation and fundraising activities, as well as their ongoing operational affairs, including regulatory compliance, investor relations, governance, investment personnel matters and administrative considerations.

"Amy has an impressive background advising clients on the formation, operation and maintenance of private investment funds in the United States and globally," said Kenneth I. Rosh, chairman and head of the firm's Private Equity Funds Group. "As we continue to grow our practice and strengthen our global platform, Amy's arrival further demonstrates our commitment to offering our clients top-tier advice on all aspects of fund formation."

"We are thrilled to have Amy join Fried Frank and our premier Asset Management Practice," added Steven Epstein, managing partner and co-head of Fried Frank's M&A and Private Equity Practice. "Her addition to our Private Equity Funds Group will be an excellent complement to our impressive team of global advisors for some of the world's largest and most complex private funds."

Led by partners Lawrence N. Barshay, founder and head of Fried Frank's global Asset Management Practice, Kenneth I. Rosh, head of the Private Equity Funds Group, and Kate Downey, head of European Private Equity Funds Group, the firm's Asset Management Practice provides top-tier advice on all aspects of funds, managed accounts and other investment vehicles, including fund formation, negotiation of managed accounts and advisory agreements, structuring management companies and compensation arrangements, spinouts, seeding and stakes transactions, documentation of prime brokerage and other trading arrangements and advice regarding ongoing operations.

On March 1, Fried Frank's new leadership appointments took effect, with Kenneth I. Rosh serving as firm chairman, Steven Epstein serving as managing partner and Scott B. Luftglass serving as vice chairman, with each continuing to actively maintain their respective practices.

Amy's arrival follows that of partner Audra A. Cohen, who joined the Asset Management Practice in New York in April. In addition, the firm recently added finance partners Monica K. Thurmond in New York and Cameron Mitcham in London, as well as M&A and private equity partners Christian Iwasko, Michelle Tong and Priya Rupal in London.
